Role Overview
The Operations Coordinator is line managed by the Deputy Director and will closely collaborate with colleagues across all areas of our work, as well as working closely with artists. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our buildings, ensuring that Gasworks remains a welcoming and functional space for audiences, artists, supporters, and team members.

As the organisation’s primary point of contact for day-to-day operational support, the postholder provides essential administrative and logistical assistance that enables Gasworks to deliver its mission, vision and strategic aims. They help to create a high-functioning and welcoming environment in which our programmes and values can thrive.

A core aspect of the role is ensuring that Gasworks’ two buildings are consistently well presented, fully operational and safe for everyone who works in or visits them. This includes our main building – which houses the gallery, offices and artist studios – and the residential house used by our international residency artists. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance of both sites, implementing and maintaining administrative systems, managing supplies, equipment and storage, and coordinating IT, utilities and servicing contracts.

We are seeking someone with a positive, proactive and solutions-focused approach, who takes initiative, embraces challenges and is motivated by making things run smoothly. This role suits an individual who thrives in a busy environment and can confidently balance multiple tasks, requests and deadlines at the same time.

Job Requirements

The role requires at least one year’s experience in a similar operational or transferable position, with strong organisational skills and the ability to implement effective systems. The postholder must be highly accurate, confident managing multiple priorities and able to work collaboratively with staff, artists and external partners. Excellent written and verbal communication, strong IT skills and the ability to troubleshoot both familiar and unfamiliar technologies are essential. The role demands a proactive, solutions-focused approach, good time management, and the willingness to undertake practical building tasks. Desirable qualities include experience with health and safety, exhibition or event installation, budget management, databases, and an understanding of Gasworks’ mission. An interest in the visual arts is also advantageous.
