This is an exciting opportunity for a prospect research manager to join the British Museum’s Development department as Research and Fundraising Priorities Manager.

Job Description

In 2024, the British Museum in Camden received 6.5 million visitors, more than any other museum in the UK. Against this backdrop, the Museum is now undergoing an extraordinary transformation, both intellectual and physical, and there could not be a more meaningful time to join.

The British Museum has built a reputable prospect research function which supported both Development and the Museum’s wider management. Your research will strategically harness information and data to drive fundraising decisions by providing insight-led research and information on funding priorities. This position plays a key role in the Museum’s strategic planning.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in conducting Prospect Research and Due Diligence screening
  • Understanding of General Data Protection Regulation and Fundraising Code of Practice
  • Fantastic analytical and research skills with the ability to read and analyse significant amounts of data
  • Experience of working for a charity or not for profit organisation
  • Knowledge of research internationally and of donor motivations
  • Able to multitask, prioritise and delegate effectively with strong attention to detail
  • Able to propose, undertake, coordinate or interpret qualitative and quantitative research and present finding to internal audiences in a clear, concise and compelling manner
