Job Summary

Clean Break is looking to appoint a Treasurer (voluntary position) to deliver the organisation’s mission through good governance, fit for purpose financial systems and deliverable financial plans through strong partnership working with staff and trustees.

Job Description

The main responsibilities of the Treasurer include:

  • Chair the Finance Committee and provide regular reports to the Board of Trustees.
  • Collaborate with the Co-Chairs and Executive Director to ensure that the Board is empowered to fulfil its financial responsibilities in an informed and timely manner.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Head of Finance & Operations to ensure that the charity’s finance and risk management systems are fit for purpose.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Head of Finance & Operations to develop and test robust financial plans and to monitor progress against the agreed plans.
  • Provide support and, where appropriate, professional development opportunities for the Head of Finance & Operations and other finance staff.

Job Requirements

  • Recognised accounting qualification
  • Experience of working with or for charities
  • Proven ability to communicate and present financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders such as funders
  • Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrable good judgement
  • Understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
  • Senior level managerial and leadership experience
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Interest in contemporary theatre and new writing Interest in the criminal justice system and the experience of women within this
  • Commitment to the charity’s mission and values and willingness to act as ambassador to stakeholders
