Do you have a passion for sound and live performance? We’re looking for an experienced Performing Arts Technician (Sound) to join the technical team within the Operations and Events Department at GSA.
In this role, you’ll bring specialist expertise to support the delivery of GSA’s programmes, with a particular focus on theatre productions, technical lectures, and live events. Working closely with staff and students, you’ll help realise productions and performances of the highest standard, while sharing your skills to develop the next generation of theatre professionals.
You’ll play a key part in delivering:
- GSA productions and public performances
- Technical lectures across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
- Research events and student society activities
- Open days, conferences, lectures, and other events
The technical team also provides equipment, mentoring, and maintenance support, ensuring excellence across all GSA activities. Providing an outstanding student experience is central to everything we do.
Hours are typically Monday-Friday, 9-5, with some flexibility around production schedules.

Job Requirements
You’ll bring professional experience of working within a sound department on varied live productions, ideally with some experience in a Conservatoire or Higher Education setting.
As an experienced sound technician, you’ll have:
- Knowledge of current practices and techniques in professional theatre and live entertainment
- Strong administrative, pastoral, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to supervise, mentor, and support students and freelance staff
- Experience assisting with technical lectures and supporting student learning
- Experience managing equipment, budgets, and maintenance
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage your own workload
You’ll also have up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and a commitment to promoting safe working and inclusive practices.
