Job Description
Collective Fringe 2026 is calling for bold, original new writing to be part of London’s newest professional fringe festival, taking place 21-25 January 2026 at Collective Acting Studio in Finsbury Park.
The festival champions new work from both early-career and established writers, with a focus on underrepresented voices and distinctive stories that deserve to be seen.
Selected productions will form part of the main festival programme and receive:
-
A guaranteed upfront payment of £400
-
A 70/30 box office split in favour of the artist (calculated after the guarantee)
-
Free rehearsal and performance space at Collective Acting Studio
-
Dramaturgical and technical support, plus a filmed recording of your show
-
Access to producers and theatre companies scouting new work
We’re looking for scripts that are ready for the next stage of development. Fully realised plays are welcome, as are strong concepts that are close to completion.
Writers will have their work performed before engaged audiences, industry guests and potential collaborators, with the opportunity to gain valuable exposure and professional experience.
To apply, please send:
-
A 10-page excerpt of your play (PDF format)
-
A short pitch or proposal (up to 750 words or a 4-minute video)

Job Requirements
We welcome submissions from playwrights and theatre-makers at any stage of their career. You should have a clear concept for a new play that is ready to move into development and performance.
Applicants should:
Have an original script or concept for a stage play (no adaptations or revivals).
Provide a 10-page writing sample that reflects the tone and style of the piece.
Be available for rehearsals in January 2026 at Collective Acting Studio, Finsbury Park.
Be willing to collaborate with the festival team and, if required, a director and cast.
Have the full script completed before rehearsals begin.
We particularly encourage applications from writers from underrepresented backgrounds or those who have faced barriers to working in theatre.
Previous production experience is not essential. We are looking for distinctive voices, imaginative ideas and stories that will connect with audiences.
