Border Crossings

Job Summary

We are seeking to appoint a fixed-term freelance Archivist to lead in the development and safeguarding of the Border Crossings archive, from 1995 to the present, as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations.

Job Description

Celebrating its 30th anniversary year, Border Crossings is a significant force in intercultural performance and the arts more widely. We work internationally, creating theatre with partner artists across the world, and curating the ORIGINS Festival of Indigenous cultures.

We are seeking to appoint a fixed-term freelance Archivist to lead in the development and safeguarding of the Border Crossings archive, from 1995 to the present, as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations. The London-based Archivist will sort, catalogue and preserve our collections, collaborating with our archive partners: the Theatre Collection at the University of Bristol.

The archive consists of uncatalogued documents (both physical and digital) held mainly in our registered office and store spaces, relating to the founding and development of the organisation from its origins as a small theatre company into the dynamic and thriving intercultural arts organisation it is today.

The post may suit a recently qualified archivist: the opportunity to be mentored by an experienced archivist from the Theatre Collection will be offered.

This is a freelance contract covering the 7 month project period. The fee will be £14,000, based on 3 days a week.

Applications close: September 22nd

Interviews: September 30th
