Job Description
Brass Bands England is seeking to recruit highly charismatic, engaging and musically skilled individuals for adjudication positions at next year’s National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain (Youth Champs).
The adjudicators will share the judging and feedback responsibilities of the event’s four categories: the Showcase Section, Yamaha Performance Section, Challenge Section and Championship Section. All applicants must be available for work at King Edward’s School, Birmingham on Saturday 28 March 2026.
The approximate hours of work are 6 but it may vary.
Job Requirements
The Youth Champs Adjudicators should possess:
- Competent musicianship including the ability to read and understand brass band scores.
- Good judgement, including the ability to rank and categorise performances appropriately.
- The ability to use IT in the adjudication process (Google Docs) and handle scores in digital format (provided in advance). It is compulsory to use the digital system provided in adjudicating this event.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to enthuse and inspire young people.
- Experience working with young people.
- (Desirable) Knowledge and enthusiasm for the brass banding sector.
- Good personal presentation
