Job Summary

Rodeo Productions are looking for a Head of Lighting to work on the UK tour of Operation Mincemeat. Still enjoying a phenomenal run in London’s West End, Operation Mincemeat is now also on its first national tour and has an exciting opening as part of the LX team.

Job Description

The Head of Lighting will work closely with the other Head of Departments, Deputy Head of Lighting, touring company, resident crew, visiting crew, and Company Manager, in establishing and executing the needs of the production.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attending all rehearsals, show calls, maintenance calls, get-ins, fit-ups and get-outs as required,
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of all lighting equipment specific to the production
  • Maintaining the Production as instructed and dictated by the creative team in line with the artistic requirements and direction of the Production;
  • Managing the lighting department (including follow spot operators, and deps), including recruitment, line management, scheduling, recording of hours and training;
  • Create and maintain all inspection, maintenance and all other required documentation for the safe and continued show operation;
  • Where required operate show cues, and related equipment for performances and maintenance;
  • Having a practical understanding of the Producer’s employment policies and demonstrating a willingness to comply with, and implement, these policies;
  • Working in accordance with the Producer’s Health and Safety policy, which may include working at height and using appropriate safety equipment and clothing;
  • Complying at all times with the rules and regulations in force at the venues in connection with the Production;
  • Maintain a safe working environment always by conforming to established safety policies and procedures;
  • Managing departmental staff rotas and ensuring an adequate level of show cover at all times;
  • Managing petty cash for your department and the timely placing of any orders for goods and equipment as approved by the General Manager;
  • Maintaining good relationships with hirers and suppliers;
  • Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the production;
  • Work collaboratively with all other departments within the company to meet all technical and artistic requirements for the show.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience of touring and opening large-scale theatre shows, ideally musicals, and professional experience in a management position.

Essential experience includes:

  • Previous experience as Head of Lighting in similar large-scale productions;
  • Previous experience leading and managing a team, including follow spot operators;
  • Leadership and ability to work under pressure;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Start date: The tour begins its tech period w/c 9th February 2026 (however, we would require the successful candidate to be available prior to this for prep).

End date: Saturday 28th November 2026
