Job Summary
Job Description
Berwick-upon-Tweed has begun the region’s boldest culture-led regeneration programme, with the transformation of The Maltings venue at its heart – a project described by Northumberland County Council’s leader as ‘the best thing ever’ for Berwick. The newly created role of Head of Marketing & Development will play a key part in repositioning our organisation and delivering an effective fundraising action plan to support change and growth, and in revitalising a whole town.
This appointment is being made at a crucial moment for the Trust. The postholder will work as part of a small but committed staff team, leading our fundraising and communications agenda through our 2 to 3 year ‘decant’ period away from our main venue whilst it undergoes a £25m redevelopment. During that time, they will also renew our marketing and audience development strategy, build capacity and skills across the team, and support audience growth and sales development ready for venue re-launch. We’re forming new partnerships, reshaping our programme, engaging new audiences, and broadening our role in the life of the town.
We have ambitious plans to realise, targets to meet, and amazing stories to tell. We want to build a reputation for excellence across our full programme, delight and exceed audience expectations, embed our cultural leadership role across the region and beyond, and maximise revenues.
Taking on this challenge calls for an experienced and creative individual with drive and innovative thinking. But those aren’t enough on their own – we’ll also need pragmatic resource management, excellent networking skills, and fast-paced decisive day-to-day delivery of the highest quality. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in fundraising, communications, partnership working, and day-to-day programme delivery within the arts/heritage sector. We need an exceptional individual to do an exceptional job.
