The Art Loss Register
Job Description
The Art Loss Register is the world’s largest private database of lost and stolen art. Our services include the registration of losses and recovery services for the victims of theft and looting, and due diligence searching for museums, collectors, and the art trade. For more details see our website at www.artloss.com.
We are currently looking for a maternity cover to join our Restitution team in London. The role includes research into the provenance of artworks predating 1946 as well as servicing our major global client base. The candidate must be a fluent German speaker and have a strong interest in history and the art world, in particular research and restitution issues relating to the Nazi-era. They should have some experience of and enjoy working in a fast-paced, commercial environment where analysing and assessing risks goes hand in hand with making decisions independently under time pressure. While a background in art and/or (German) history is useful for this role, we are looking for candidates with risk management/risk assessment skills and a strong interest in and talent for servicing clients. This experience does not necessarily need to have been gained in the art world.
The role is a maternity cover, fixed-term 15-17 months subject to agreement, full-time, and based in London. The starting date is ideally September, but no later than mid-October 2025. The annual salary is 27,000 GBP at entrance level, but subject to experience. Please note that any offer of employment will be conditional upon the applicant’s rights to work in the UK. To apply for this role please submit your CV and a covering letter by email by COB on 5th of August 2025. Interviews will be held in the weeks of 4 and 11 August.
