About the role

We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced curator of collections to join our team of curators to research, create and deliver the presentation of our palaces and collections, and to produce outstanding content from their stories for all our audiences. You will work primarily on Kensington Palace’s history and collections, including a major exhibition project on 20th century royal representation through dress and photography and several exciting smaller projects presenting the palace’s longer history.

Representing Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) to the wider world and communicating its stories, you will help develop research into Kensington Palace and its context. You will also manage staff, researchers and consultants, as needed to achieve our objectives.

About you

You will be a qualified and experienced museum or heritage curator with expertise in an aspect of modern British and European royal history and collections, as well as some familiarity working with inclusive and global histories.

You will be experienced working with archival sources, a confident public speaker and a capable and engaging writer, able to communicate your knowledge to a wide variety of different audiences and across a range of formats. We are looking for someone who has experience researching and caring for historic collections, championing underrepresented histories and communities and leading the curatorial aspects of exhibitions and displays in line with best practice.
