Job Summary
Job Description

To welcome visitors in the main foyer as well as the cinemas, Mediatheque, studio and other spaces.

To invigilate the spaces and ensure they are clean of litter and presentable and fit for opening to the public.

To check admission tickets, to direct and escort customers to their seats and ensure no unauthorised person gains entry to spaces.

To acquire a basic knowledge of the contents of exhibitions and events in the cinemas, Mediatheque, studio etc. and the background of the BFI and LFF and pro-actively seek to update and further that knowledge in order to answer as many visitor queries as possible.

To provide an interpretative role for visitors, encouraging interaction with exhibitions and events, communicating their relevance in a lively and informative way, answering questions fully and leading visitors on occasional tours as required.

To provide all information in a style appropriate for the visitor/s concerned.

To be on duty as required in the auditoria throughout performances, issue programme notes and supervise the exit of the audience.

To notify the Visitor Services Manager immediately of any faults, defective equipment or incidents and to assist in dealing with the incident as appropriate.

To ensure fire exits and escape routes are free from obstruction and patrons observe the rules in place.

To support the Box Office including selling tickets, memberships and other items on the ticketing sales system.

To support membership administration and customer service, including basic enquiries, informing customers about Gift Aid, ordering replacement cards, running mandates, setting up Direct Debits and activating Gift Packs.

To staff external BFI Box offices for London Film Festival and other BFI special screenings as required.

To provide cover for special events and corporate hires.
Job Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
-
Previous experience in a customer service role in a public or commercial venue.
-
Knowledge of Health and Safety Issues in relation to public venues.
-
An interest in film, media or visual arts.
-
A willingness to train and develop skills in a wide range of operational areas.
-
Ability to work as part of a team.
-
A proven track record of promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion.
