Job Summary

We are looking for a talented and committed individual with a strong experience of designing and delivering creative, fun and relevant programmes, resources and experiences with and for families and young people at the Gallery.

Job Description

Families:

50% of the role: You will design, manage, deliver and evaluate the Gallery’s work with families; designing and delivering vibrant, engaging and accessible programmes, projects, and resources. You will champion and advocate a family friendly culture at the Gallery, and embed safeguarding, consultation and evaluation. You will create and deliver the family programme of activity during school holidays, manage Little Explorers – the Early Years public programme, family resources and the family experience at the Gallery. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Gallery especially working closely with the Early Years Manager and Schools Manager to provide connectivity with the Early Years agenda and curriculum links.

Young People:

50% of the role: You will design, manage, deliver and evaluate the Gallery’s work with independent young people aged 14-18, offering innovative and inclusive programmes, projects, and resources. The programmes – NPG LINK and GOING PRO – are focussed on creative learning, skills development and knowledge exchange – maximizing opportunities for practical activity and advice, vocational learning, career pathways and progression routes at the Gallery and in the cultural sector. Peer-led consultation and practice is central to our work and you will work closely with the Young People’s Programme Manager who manages NPG LAB and LOOP, to ensure a joined-up approach is taken for youth work at the Gallery.

Working closely with all Programme Managers in the Learning and Engagement department, and colleagues across the Gallery, you will play a key role in championing and integrating the experiences of families and young people to inform practice for these audiences in different contexts and make strong connections between Early Years provision, schools, FE and HE audiences, ensuring the Gallery is a friendly, welcoming and inclusive space for these key

Job Requirements

Key Experience, Skills and Criteria:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in history, art, liberal arts or education
  • Experience of developing and sustaining partnership projects with and for families and young people within a strategic framework to develop, build and embed new practice and ways of working
  • Strong track record in commissioning and managing the production of different programmes, small and large-scale events and partnership projects for families and young people in cultural settings
  • Excellent understanding of priorities and agendas for families, Early Years and young people within the cultural learning and education sector
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and care required when working with families and young people
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of establishing and developing consultative youth practice to develop peer-led programmes, resources and promotion in a museum or cultural setting
