Job Summary

You will be responsible for a number of key aspects that will ensure the smooth running and operation of The Auxiliary’s warehouse space, including but not limited to, ensuring the health, safety and well being of all studio holders, install tech, project staff, artists and audiences.

Job Description

We’re looking for a hands-on, organised Building Manager to help run our warehouse space and support the artists who use it. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the building – from venue hire and calendar management to health and safety, compliance, maintenance and more.

We’re seeking someone with experience in studio, facilities or operations management who shares our commitment to supporting artists and artist-led spaces. You’ll ensure our space remains accessible, safe and welcoming for studio holders, visiting artists, project staff and audiences.

This role suits a practical problem-solver who enjoys keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll be reliable, communicative, and committed to accessibility, equality, diversity and inclusion and ready to roll up your sleeves when needed.

Job Requirements

Person specification (Essential)

– Demonstrable experience of space management and health and safety procedures.

– Experience of creating systems and processes to support bookings, calendar management, tasks lists and compliance for event management

– Experience of managing and monitoring studio, venue hire and operations budgets, reporting monthly and quarterly to the Executive Director

– Strong communication, interpersonal and team-working skills

– Good attention to detail, combined with excellent organisation and time management skills

– Ability to remain flexible and proactive under pressure, demonstrating persistence, reliability and resilience.

– Holding a current UK driving license and own transport is a prerequisite for this position, occasional driving will be required (mileage expenses are reimbursed).

– Weekend and evening work will be required as appropriate to our event schedule. The role provides Time o in lieu (TOIL) for any additional days worked.
