Job Description

About the role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced driver with an interest in our collections to drive and manage the British Museum van. The role is responsible for the loading, transportation and delivery of objects from the Museum’s collection to locations throughout the UK, working in close cooperation with collection management colleagues.

This is primarily a driving and delivery role but will also involve management and administration relating to the operation of the Museum van and any associated vehicles The role will also be expected to undertake the full range of object handling and packing duties as required, including (de)install courier duties on UK loans. A flexible and conscientious approach, with a willingness to uphold the expected professional standards of collection care in a major UK heritage institution, is essential.

Full object-handling training will be provided.

Job Requirements

About you:

  • Good general education including GCSEs or equivalent
  • Clean full UK driving licence
  • Experience of driving a commercial vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes
  • Demonstrable interest in the Museum and its collection
