Job Summary

OperaUpClose is looking for a Production Manager for our new production of Gianni Schicchi, or Where There’s A Will which will premiere at Mayflower Studios, with rehearsals and tour beginning Spring 2026.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have proven production management experience preferably in opera and/or music theatre and excellent organisational and communication skills. This role is ideally suited to a Production Manager with a flexible approach and a wide range of transferrable skills. The Production Manager will report to the Executive Producer and the Artistic Director. The stage management and technical team on tour will consist of the Company Stage Manager, an Assistant Stage Manager and a Technician. The Production Manager will be present at the first venue to oversee the get-in.

Fee: £4,500

Timeline:

  • 25th and 26th June 2025 – Interviews
  • 31st July 2025 – Final Commission Deadline
  • 12th September 2025 – Read through and Open Rehearsal (London)
  • October/November 2025 – White Card Design
  • Late 2025/Early 2026 – Final Design
  • Rehearsals and tour beginning in Spring 2026

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in relevant professional roles, particularly with small-mid scale touring.
  • A team player with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Able to cope with the demands of working flexibly for the hours that theatre and touring inevitably demands.

Desirable

  • First Aid Qualification.
  • Fire Safety trained.
  • Full UK driving licence.
